Itinerary

We depart this morning on our flight to Fairbanks, Alaska’s “Golden Heart City.” Upon arrival, we will meet our local tour guide and transfer to the hotel. The rest of the day is at your leisure to explore and have dinner on your own.

Note: Flights will be confirmed no sooner than 9 months before departure.

Following breakfast this morning, we will set sail along the Chena River aboard a sternwheeler and experience the thrill of river travel. Then we’ll board a replica of the narrow-gauge Tanana Valley Railroad for the ride to Gold Dredge 8. Here we will meet Alaskan miners, hear about the history of mining, and try our hand at panning for gold! This evening will have us visiting Trail Breaker Kennels to meet Iditarod dogs, learn about what it means to mush dogs in the Interior of Alaska and the Iditarod, and enjoy a lovely dinner.

(Breakfast & dinner included)

This morning, we will transfer to the Fairbanks Rail Depot and board a deluxe dome railcar for the scenic train journey south to Denali National Park. Breakfast will be served on the train, and lunch will be available for purchase. Denali National Park is home to six million acres of pristine wilderness and Mt. Denali, the highest mountain peak in North America at 20,310 feet. Upon arrival in Denali, we will transfer to our hotel and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Relax or participate in an optional excursion such as flightseeing, rafting, hiking, and much more. Our group will gather together this evening to enjoy local history brought to life in the Denali Dinner Theater.

(Breakfast & dinner included)

Today we spend another beautiful day in Denali. Following breakfast at the hotel, we will travel deep into Denali National Park on the Tundra Wilderness Tour in search of bears, moose, caribou, and dall sheep amongst the vast wilderness. This 6-8 hour journey is fully narrated, offering wonderful insight into the flora and fauna of this unique region. A snack will be included on board. Time will be available for optional excursions before we return to our hotel for dinner on our own.

(Breakfast included)

We will board our motorcoach after breakfast for the scenic transfer to the quaint town of Talkeetna. Explore the community and have lunch on your own before we continue on to the Iditarod Headquarters to learn about “The Last Great Race.” Our day comes to an end in Anchorage where we’ll check in to our hotel and have dinner on our own at one of the nearby restaurants.

(Breakfast included)

We will transfer to the Anchorage Rail Depot early this morning and board an Alaska Railroad Adventure Class railcar for the scenic ride to the coastal community of Seward. Here we will board a boat for a six-hour cruise through Kenai Fjords National Park. We’ll explore the calm, protected waters and rugged coastline of Resurrection Bay and see wildlife as we pass by massive bird rookeries and sea lion colonies. We will stop along the way to view passing whales and otters, see alpine glaciers tucked in the surrounding Chugach and Kenai Mountain Ranges, and cruise by Bear Glacier. Lunch is included on board. Afterward, we will head to the Seward Cruise Terminal to board our ship. We will settle into our cabins on board and explore our home for the next seven nights.

(Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

On our first full day of cruising, we get up close and personal with the gigantic Hubbard Glacier, North America’s largest tidewater glacier. It is made of 1,350 square miles of beautiful blue ice and is one of the most active glaciers in Alaska.

(Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

The Icy Strait Point experience combines authentic regional culture with incredible natural beauty. While in port, optional excursions include enjoying Tlingit dancing and art or getting closer than one could ever imagine to humpback whales and brown bears in the wild. Choose to work up a wilderness hunger and satisfy it with fresh Dungeness crab, or take a cruise from Icy Strait Point and enjoy Alaska's awe-inspiring scenery.

(Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

Juneau has been called “Alaska's peak experience” certainly due in part to its unparalleled glacier viewing from such places as Tracy Arm Fjord, the Juneau Icefields, and Glacier Bay National Park. Optional excursions in Juneau include kayaking up one of the area's many protected waterways, going flightseeing, touring the historic downtown, or trying one’s hand at panning for gold. The majestic Mendenhall Glacier lies 12 miles outside Juneau and can be experienced from both land and sea.

Cruise past Sawyer Glacier - Enjoy the magnificence from the comfort of the ship - have your camera ready!

In a single year, this remote town along the Inside Passage grew from a few tents to a city of 20,000 gold seekers. Today, travelers come in search of other riches – to experience yesteryear along Skagway's charming boardwalk lined with buildings that replicate those Gold Rush days.

(Breakfast, lunch & dinner included)

Its Tlingit Indian name, Kach Khanna, means “spread wings of the eagle.” Chances are we'll see one of these magnificent birds perched atop a Sitka tree. Thanks to its abundant rainfall, Ketchikan is surrounded by some of the world's most lush wilderness.

Get ready for amazing views and wildlife like nowhere else as we sail through the islands of Alaska's Inside Passage.
