Canada & New England Cruise

Sit back, relax, and enjoy your flight to Montreal, Canada. Upon arrival, our group will get settled into the hotel and then spend the remainder of the day exploring this exciting city at our leisure. Montreal offers one of North America’s most exciting food scenes, with an amazing variety of food markets, English pubs, Jewish delis, quaint cafés, and more, making dinner on your own this evening a fun adventure!

Following breakfast this morning, we will embark on a tour of this French-infused city that is brimming with culture. We’ll see some of the city’s most famous landmarks and admire the mix of old and new architectural styles before traveling to Quebec City to board the Norwegian Pearl for our 10-night cruise through Canada and New England.

The city of Saguenay, formed in 2002, is comprised of three boroughs: La Baie, Chicoutimi, and Jonquiere. Chicoutimi and Jonquiere are situated on the shores of the Saguenay River and La Baie is found on the whimsically named, the Baie des Ha Ha! This French-speaking region is north of Quebec City and is considered a small oasis in the midst of the nearly uninhabited Canadian wilderness. Learn about the history of the area through a cultural stage show boasting 200 actors, an array of animals, and exciting audio-visual techniques. If local crafts pique your interest, a craftsman tour will introduce you to a glass blower, a cheese maker, and an alpaca farm where the soft wool is turned into sweaters, scarves, hats, mittens, and more.

Today we experience life at sea and take advantage of the countless opportunities on board for shopping, dining, and entertainment. Attend a show, visit the spa, or try your luck at the casino.

Opulent clapboard villas lead the way towards Charlottetown's beautiful Victoria Park. Color is everywhere - from the Victorian architecture to the red sandstone cliffs. Cavendish is home to the Green Gables Heritage Place, which served as inspiration for Anne of Green Gables by Lucy Maud Montgomery. Today, visitors can explore the homestead and meet the descendants of the author. Take in Prince Edward Island’s stunning views on various driving tours, or stay in Charlottetown to join a pub tour or simply walk along the boardwalk.

The coal industry brought immigrants from many parts of the world, giving Sydney a multicultural mix of over fifty ethnic backgrounds and a global flavor to its history. Located on Cape Breton Island, Sydney is also an ideal jumping-off point for scenic adventures. Excursion options include a trip to Baddeck to explore the Alexander Graham Bell Museum, a visit to the Fortress of Louisbourg, a scenic drive along the Cabot Trail, or a Sydney pub tour.

Admire the rugged coastline that surrounds Halifax, the world's second-largest natural harbor. This beautifully preserved city is Nova Scotia's capital and was founded in 1749. Take steps through history and climb to The Citadel to witness the Old Town Clock. Venture to the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Lunenburg, take a coastal drive to the tiny village of Peggy’s Cove, or visit the Fairview Lawn Cemetery where 121 passengers from the Titanic are buried. Plus, Canada and the province of Nova Scotia are well-known for lobsters, lighthouses, and maple syrup, and there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy all three while in Halifax!

Saint John's history is evident in its weather-worn look, passing the tests of salt air, sea winds, and a devastating fire that have all contributed to making Saint John the greatest little city in the east. Admire the gorgeous lighthouses, covered bridges, and wildlife as you cruise the Saint John River on a riverboat, learn the history of sugaring at a maple sugar farm, take a photography tour of New Brunswick, or take a foodies’ tour at the Old City Market.

Bar Harbor has retained much of its charm since its glory days of the 1900s, when America's elite vacationed here in opulent summer cottages. Surrounding the rock-bound harbor is the world-famous Acadia National Park where the opulence of nature is on display. Tour the park by motorcoach or board a horse-drawn carriage and head off the beaten path for the scenic ride along the park’s famous gravel byways built by John D. Rockefeller. Nature lovers may be interested in whale watching or a nature cruise, and history buffs will enjoy hearing tales of the lavish parties and opulent lifestyles in Bar Harbor during the Gilded Age.

Welcome to an American city where history truly does come to life. Be sure to visit Bunker Hill Monument, Paul Revere's House, the Old North Church, Quincy Market, and the mansions of Beacon Hill. Then wander Boston Common, the oldest public park in the US. Take a walk along the Freedom Trail, see the sights from the Charles River aboard a duck boat, or head to Salem to dive into the history of the infamous witch trials. While the Boston area certainly has plenty of history to uncover related to the American Revolution, it also has Harvard University, the homes of renowned authors, and many shopping opportunities!

During the 19th century, Newport served as the summer playground for the rich and famous. Residents displayed their fabulous wealth in the form of palatial estates overlooking the Atlantic. Today, these extraordinary and meticulously maintained homes line the city's famed "Mansion Row" and are a must-see for any visitor. Optional shore excursions range from tours specific to the Vanderbilt family legacy to those that simply touch on the highlights and history of Newport during the “Gilded Age.” Tour the Breakers, see the mansions as you cruise along the coastline in a restored wooden vessel, or board a helicopter for a bird’s eye view of significant points of interest in the lives of the Vanderbilts, Astors, and Kennedys.
